    It depends on many things.

If you have an 80 year old who is in OK health, the vaccine will probably
    help more than it hurts.

If you have someone who is 40 who is in poor health (i.e. morbidly obese, etc), the vaccine will probably help more than it hurts.

But the VAST majority of the population won't get any benefit from the vaccine. Their immune system will take care of it. This is especially true for the under 20 crowd.

But for some reason "science" says that states (i.e. Michigan) can't completely open back up until vaccination rate is 70%+.

Everything about COVID has been politicized and cannot be accepted at face value.

This morning, a doctor here told some patient that the benefit outweighted the risk. The patient was a

It's funny because the people who are like that often have completely messed
up lives. Some of them, like Bill Gates, got rich, not because they produced
a great product, but because their competitors messed up and handed them opportunity.

Think of what would have happened if Gary Kildall had been there when IBM (literally) came knocking on his door. Microsoft probably would not have reached its dominance that it has today and Bill Gates would be wealthy,
but not to the extent that he is now.

Actually, the power and money only let them force their beliefs on others. Their feeling that they are the Chosen Ones existed before they had power and money.

they didnt just have success dropped infront of them. they worked hard. they made the correct choices.

Early on, you can make that argument about Gates. But the IBM deal was dropped in his lap and he didn't work hard after that - as evidenced by the poor products Microsoft produced after that.

gary kildall was a bad businessman and an alcoholic.

Gary was a techie and certainly not a good business man. He only became an alcoholic after he realized what he messed up - and how that hurt his personal life.

decisions and it's still not clear what went on with ibm dealings. also let me point out that ibm approached DR because Bill Gates recommended him.

Correct. I said nothing bad about Gates' dealings here. But the facts of the matter are:
    1. Microsoft did NOT have a product for IBM, nor did Microsoft have the ABILITY to produce the product that IBM wanted - that's why they purchased DOS from a different company.
    2. The IBM deal was literally dropped into Gates' lap.

Microsoft's, and Gates', success here was handed to them. Gates took advantage of the situation (and I mean no disrespect to him for doing that because I would have done the same thing).

I argue that without that deal, Microsoft would have remained a powerful software company, but significantly less powerful than it has become.

I used to listen to certain Skeptic podcast. The problem with
Skepticism is that it has turned into a movement with conferences and leaders and nowadays it is political itself. It has become a movement
that claims to take nothing for granted until proven with evidence in which the conclussions they want to be true need less evidence than everything else.

That usually means it's been infected by the Left.

Remember that the Left ruins everything it touches.

... It's not the money I want, it's the stuff.
