Quoting Arelor to Elf <=-
My experience is that human life has finite value and that it is much lower than people pretends it to be.
That is the reason why people spends thousands of dollar in
entertainment while there are kids starving in Africa. For a random person, spending some notes in a bunch of popcorn and a movie in a drive-in cinema is a better expense than using those same notes for sending aid to people who is dying.
Why can't we do both? Those that can afford it, should do both.
Families that can spend money on positive, fun family memories should
not be made to feel guilty because of it. Those same families can also
donate to efforts to help those in need. Our family does both. Those
that cannot afford to donate to those in need, should not be required to sacrifice their own family needs. Yes, families need fun time together
to build positive memories and share experiences together, to strengthen
their family ties.
I do understand that overindulgence in "fun times" and disregarding
those in need is not a cool thing and we all should endeavor to do
better.
